During the cooling periods, a process of glaciation took place that consisted of the accumulation of large masses of ice on the continents whose thicknesses reached up to a maximum of 2000 meters, whereas in the warmer countries, denominated interglaciares, these immense accumulations were fused of ice.
By the beginning of this period the Venezuelan territory already presented almost in its entirety the geomorphological configuration that at present is observable, but it was also affected by the glacial and interglacial processes.

Durante los periodos de enfriamiento tuvo lugar un proceso de glaciación que consistía en la acumulación de grandes masas de hielo en los continentes cuyo espesor alcanzaba un máximo de 2000 metros, mientras que en los países más cálidos denominados interglaciares estas inmensas acumulaciones se fundían de hielo.
Al comienzo de este período el territorio venezolano ya presentaba casi en su totalidad la configuración geomorfológica que actualmente es observable, pero también fue afectada por los procesos glaciales e interglaciales.
