I have nearly nine years of translation experience. During my MA in Reading, I took 2 graduate-level translation
courses and obtained a graduate assistantship at the Language and Culture Resource
Center, where I gained very important skills and experience translating. I
constantly used Microsoft office software and learned to use SDL Trados
software for translations. I translated community event flyers, local business ads,
official foreign government documents, and community organization websites. I
also experience translating and completing documents within deadlines for
customers. Most of my translation experience has been in the Education field.
From my first year of learning all the basics of translation to the experience
of translating documents in my six years of teaching experience. I first obtain
a certification of translation studies during my BA in Spanish from The University of Texas at Arlington. I have 7 years of experience teaching at
different school levels and have gained knowledge and experience as the school’s
volunteer translator. I have translated official school documents, newsletters,
community event flyers, parent notes, teacher notes, lesson plans, and classroom
projects. At many times, school and other teachers asked for certain documents
to be translated within a short time frame. I also have experience in the law and legal translations
aspect. During my duties as a sworn police officer, I translated witness
statements and reports. I attended a 2-day, TN State Court Interpreter Ethics
and Skills Building Workshop where I gained more knowledge on the court's
system. I conducted departmental seminars to law enforcement officers in the
teachings of basic Spanish phrases and commands to better serve the
community and for officer safety. |
