Originally from London, and living in France since in 2002. Hold an Open University Diploma in French, and am currently studying for a Master’s in Translation Studies with Portsmouth University, a course accredited by the European Commission.
I work both as a freelance French to English translator, and as an English audio transcriptionist and proof-reader. My translation work covers a variety of subjects, including commercial websites, marketing, finance, tourism and historical texts.
I previously worked for ten years in the investment banking industry in the City of London, working as an equity analyst within a trading team. Owing to this work, I have significant knowledge of global financial markets and their associated terminology. In my role, I was a Registered Representative of the Securities and Futures Authority.
I have worked on a large World War Two history project with a British documentary film maker, for which I interviewed French Resistance veterans, and transcribed and translated the interviews into English. I have also worked twice with BBC World News on similar projects, in a capacity of fixer, interpreter and translator.
My audio transcription work covers a diverse range of subjects, including business, conferences, finance, focus groups and market research, interviews, media, medical, technology and telecommunications. This work is invaluable for widening my broad base of subject knowledge for my translation work.
In all my projects, I have a proven track record of paying great attention to detail, being honest, reliable and thoughtful, and of producing work to a very high standard.
