Key shifts for online banking exchanges

Online banking has revolutionized at a substantial rate in Latin America. According to the report by Tecnocom: due to patterns in payment mediums from 2016, online and mobile banking continued to increase the gap with traditional banking in Latin America thereby increasing their salience as transactional channels for payment transactions.

Since 2013, online banking had gained an exponential increase throughout the majority of Latin American countries. Most notably among Latin America is Peru, with a 79% increase for online transactions and, on the other extreme, Mexico, with a more moderate increase of 6.7%, falling behind Chile (13.1%), Colombia (15.8%) and Brazil (18.4%). In terms of transaction values, Peru has taken the lead with a 122% increase through this medium, while Mexico has rolled back considerably, -2.6%.

The updated version of the report from 2017 indicates that "the banking population manifests a significant expansion in the use of online services in every country. Even the most advanced approaches, such as payment services and online payments among individuals and personal financial management services mutually achieve at least 10% or 5% usage".

Provisional release, probation and parole (Mexico)

The defendant's provisional release includes two forms: release on one's own recognizance and release on bail. Release on one's own recognizance or protest is that which is granted to the defendant on a word of honor, on condition that the defendant complies with all of the stipulations for that purpose. Release on bail is the right which all defendants have on condition that the maximum time of incarceration pertaining to the charged offense does not exceed five years of prison, taking into consideration, in cases of multiple offenses, the maximum penalty for the most serious offense.

Probation is a measure adopted by the competent authority concerning the individual, by their inclination towards committing offenses; because, having been sanctioned with the loss of liberty, the individual has received the benefit of an early release prior to completing their sentence because upon being sentenced the benefit of probation had been granted to the individual.

Parole is a favor reserved for those primary offenders, as a reward for good conduct during their confinement, provided that three-fifths of the sentence has been completed if the charge is for intentional offenses or half of the sentence in the case of offenses of neglect. The authorization of this favor yields a suspension of the sentence, releasing the defendant, as it can be revoked for misconduct by the beneficiary or by failing to comply with the conditions upon which it was granted.

Brasília - the first Mercosul meeting with the Pacific Alliance (PA) intends to intervene on July 24th in Mexico in accordance with the Latin American and Carribean undersecretary from Itamaraty, Paulo Estivallet.

In the press conference he stated that the meeting's objective is to identify new economic ventures as well as possible setbacks to be overcome.

Estivallet denied, however, that a potential free trade agreement is under discussion between Mercosul and the PA. He substantiated his position because there are already current block agreements or agreements for individual countries.
