I am a recent graduate of the University of Exeter, where I graduated with a BA Hons IIa in German with Spanish. I'm lucky enough to have had the opportunity to do a lot of translation at university, gaining particular experience in translating news articles from German to English and vice versa, while also having experience in translating short literary texts from Spanish into English, as well as news articles. I gained high marks (2:1s or Firsts) in all areas of translation.
Additionally, during my year abroad at the Eberhard Kalrs Universität Tübingen, I had the opportunity to complete several translation modules. I did modules in translating German to Spanish and vice versa, and while I would always recommend a native speaker of the target language to complete your translation, I am very comfortable working with both these languages. I also did a Translation into English module, which gave me skills in recognising the needs of foreignization or domestication of translations, as well as giving me an introduction to subtitling and interpreting. My final project for this module was translating the song 'Die Perfekte Welle' from German into English, a task I also gained high marks in, and which you can view here. (link forthcoming)
Currently I am gaining work experience with freelance translators, and have so far translated holiday and tourism texts for beach-inspector.com. (pending publication)
