EU-Fortschrittsbericht

Translation of the above article from German to English:
"TURKEY DISTANCES ITSELF FROM THE EUPEAN UNION"
"Turkey has noticeably distanced itself from the European Union." The EU Commission came to this conclusion on Tuesday, when Johannes Hahn, the Commissioner of Expansion, submitted his report for the candidate countries. Additionally the future perspectives were not viewed as optimistic. Under the current circumstances, no negotiations regarding a timeline for the accession talks can be undertaken. The Austrian Government has for an extended time spoken for an end to the accession negotiations which are currently on ice in anyways.
Turkey "has taken serious back steps during the past years in the areas of justice, public administration, and has dismissed basic rights, and the freedom of speech" as the report criticizes and this led to a failed Putsch attempt in July 2016. For this reason, the EU Commission demands the repeal of the state of emergency. Without an extension, it would discontinue on 19 April. Certainly the observers expect that the Turkish Parliament would give the green light on Wednesday for [and extension] of three months more.

Liksom Donald Trump försöker man bryta konsensus kring verkligheten.

Trump and Putin shaping a world without reality

Russian foreign policy propaganda is not about glorifying Russia, but instead disrupting the West with disinformation. Like Donald Trump, they are trying to divide the consensus around reality.

“Russia is leading history’s most mindboggling information Blitzkrieg of all time”, NATO’s Military Commander, General Phillip M. Breedlove alleged during Russia’s war in Ukraine. This is something of an understatement. The new Russia is not just professing this kind of disinformation, lies, leaks and cyber sabotage that is normally associated with the information warfare. Instead, it is more likely to reinvent reality, create mass hallucinations that then lead to political action. In Ukraine for example, President Putin created a TV-like pseudo-reality about how the speakers of Russian were under a threat from US sponsored fascists. This was a magic trick, but the separatists took up weapons and the people in Donetsk voted in a rigged referendum because of it.

This surreal culture has been the model for the Russian foreign policy for around twenty years. The key to understanding today’s Russia are “political technologists”. Russia’s spin doctors conjure up fictitious political parties and concocted popular movements that captured the nation’s attention while Putin’s circle consolidated its power.

No, ei muuta.

The loquacious crone

There once was an old man and his old wife. The crone was mightily loquacious. I have to tolerate it, and that's what everyone in the village testifies. The old man is forest man and a good fisherman. So it happened on day, when he was walking with his fishing gear, he found a treasure in the forest, and he began to in contemplate how he could get the treasure home as behind-the scenes as possible, asI have a wife who is talkative, and I get to listen when she immediately tells everybody what she hears from me. Well, what can one do. That day the old man found pike fish in a pile of trash, and of all things also found a large grouse caught in hunter's trap, he decided to exchanged things so he put the grouse into the pile of rubbish and he put the pike into the trap. From there he walked home and told the old crone that he said, 'I found a treasure trove in the forest, tomorrow we will fetch the money and bring it back from there."
--- "Well, just imagine that! So you found a treasure!, the old woman said in reply. and her thoughts were already burning to go to the village, however the old man blocked her path, so she was stopped in her tracks.
So he called it a night, saying that they could finish the job tomorrow and carry the money from the treasure trove and they would go to the forest together. When we reach walking to, the banks of the pond, the old-timer uttered to his crone, ":looks like it's leaking, would that I had my fishing gear here, and when I take a look at this booty, there is a grouse in the junk!" Let's walk bit away from it . Listen to the bird trap., let's go to the bird trap and take a look, and see that there is a pike in the trap! We will take it with us and go to where the treasure is and we will put the money in a load, all of it, and from there we will carry it home. Well, when we get to the village, we reach it, we will step along the yards; so that the crone began composing the words she would use; but once again the old man prevented her from going forward, Yet it did not take a lot of time for the old woman to turn off onto one of the many alleys to the houses. But it so happened that at that place the dogs were fighting each other. They were barking and growling in the yard; so the old man is shouting: "Don't go there, old girl, don't you hear that the woman of the house slammed her husband, saying "don't get caught up in someone else's hands". The crone took fright at that; she did not approach, the house and the old man managed to get the treasure home, without the whole village hearing about it.
--- Well they went to bed an slept the night, it was only when the daylight dawned, the old crone did not tarry at home, instead she ran noticing the house, which she was going to stop by yesterday; and she started telling everybody about what had happened. She said "we found a treasure in the forest, my husband found it the other day in the evening, he found it and came to tell me all about it, but it was late, so he did not think to take the money then; just yesterday we went together to the place, and we carried two loads of money, and those loads were so big..."
..What, where was the treasure you found?" the householder asked. "There, there, in the forest over there",. "Matti and I went together until we walked and looked at the trap where there was a grouse and there was a pike where we got a pike, so we first took them, from there and as we were going..."
---"Liar", said the householder, you lie whenever it suits you, when did you get the grouse into the net bag or the pike out of the trap? This kind of stuff not even a madman would believe!"---
"Believe you me! the crone argued. "We found the treasure, we found it, and we carried two load of money from the forest yesterday, and we took this same route at that time as we were walking, just when a woman flogged you here...". --- "Don't lie!" screamed the householder who got angry and he gave the crone a smack on the ear. "What and when did I hit a woman? Everybody is lying here; there is no sense in your jabber! Bet out of here, or else.."
The crone did not know what to do, all she could do is to run home. and she did not worry any more about informing the villagers about her husband's affairs , rather she was very prudent and accurate in all of her discourse. And they lived happily ever after.
