About me

I am a Brazilian freelance writer and translator who has a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and a Master's degree in Literary and Cultural Studies.

First of all, you can have a look at my portfolio, if you wish, by clicking here.

I have graduated from one of the top 5 universities in Brazil and I have finished my Masters in the best university in Portugal (according to the QS World University Rankings). I have also lived 1 year in Belgium and have studied for 1 semester at the University of Copenhagen, as an exchange student.

Although I am new to Proz, in the last 5 years I acquired a lot of experience as an English – Portuguese translator. I have worked as a freelance translator for different clients and I also have experience as an Interpreter. I have been studying English for 20 years and I have a Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) certificate. I have also worked as an English tutor for teenagers.

I believe that being a good translator requires much more than being fluent in two or more different languages. The translator needs to have a profound knowledge of those languages and a good understanding of their cultures. He/she must identify the GOALS, the TARGET AUDIENCE, the TONE and the SUBTLETIES of the original text and translate it appropriately into the target language and culture, also being attentive to perfect grammar. I can certainly offer all that to your project.

I DO NOT translate from Portuguese into English, like many English-Portuguese translators do, even though I am capable of doing so and have done it before. I know English-Portuguese translation is what I can do best and I will not offer my clients anything less than perfect.

I am now a full-time freelance translator and writer, which means I will be completely focused in carrying out your projects the best way possible and I will be available to your questions, suggestions and, if needed, required modifications.

I can also work as a proof-reader (Portuguese), a transcriber (Portuguese and English) and, as a former TV reporter, I have good experience performing voice-overs (in Portuguese-BR).
