English to Catalan: "They Called me Matilda, and I Came to be Known as Matilda ". A study of the Concept of Identity in Lloyd Jones' Mr. Pip and Andrew Adamson's Film Adaptation by Ariadna Moreno General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English This paper discusses the role that Great Expectations and its main character Pip play in shaping Matilda's and Mr. Watts' identities. Taking Matilda as the representation of the Melanesian culture and Mr. Watts and Great Expectations of the Western's, the postcolonial discourse is set. Firstly, this paper aims to demonstrate that Matilda and Mr. Watts cross-cultural relations have an effect on both characters' identities which become hybridized. Secondly, through a deep analysis of Jones' novel and Adamson's movie adaptation, this TFG is a means to demonstrate that Adamson's adaptation keeps the essence of the book and even contributes to a better understanding of the concept of identity. - https://ddd.uab.cat/record/170491?ln=ca
- https://ddd.uab.cat/record/170491?ln=ca

I was born in Barcelona to a bilingual family, I grew up speaking Catalan and Spanish natively. At the early age of 7, I started studying English in an English school where 9 years later I'd become part of the staff. I started teaching English at the age of 16. The following year I began my studies in English, Ancient Greek and Classical Latin. After 4 years of translating Greco-Roman history and literature, I specialized in English literature and culture.
After finishing two Bachelor's degrees (Classical Studies and English Studies), I moved to the USA for a year where I became a Spanish (ELE) teacher in a Montessori school. Recently I moved back to Barcelona where I work as one of the main teachers in the same English school where I grew up.
In addition to literature, history and education, I provide translation services in advertising, marketing, tourism and gastronomy fields.
