Security scanning can mean many different things, but it can be simply described as scanning the security of a website, web-based program, network, or file system for either vulnerability’s or unwanted file changes. The type of security scanning required for a particular system depends on for what that system is used. The more complicated and intricate the system or network is, the more indepth the security scan has to be. Security scanning can be done as a one-time check, but most companies who incorporate this into their security practices buy a service that continually scans their systems and networks.
One of the more popular open-source software platforms that runs security scans is called Nmap. It has been around for a very long time and has the ability to find and exploit vulnerabilities in a network. There are also a number of online scans available; however, these come with varying degrees of effectiveness and cost efficiency.
Network security scanning is extremely important for many reasons. Networks lead in to the physical disk space and servers utilized by companies, and if they are not properly secured, hackers and other threats can get into places that they should not be. The biggest problem with network scanning is that networks can be extremely complex in nature.

Over the past few years, there is a hoard of new tokes hitting the cryptocurrency market. These tokens are primarily associated with the initial coin offerings (ICO) that are happening over the market. This has led to the investors and marketers to look for liquidity of the tokens they are purchasing. With mainstream-ready infrastructure and simple interfaces, and being new, things were happening pretty smoothly for the investors. Exchanges like Bittrex, Coinbase, and Poloniex, (centralized exchanges), have brought billions of dollars worth value to the digital currencies and blockchain projects.
However, due to centralized exchanges’ vulnerability towards scaling issues, hacking, and the unclear guidelines and SEC regulations on the security aspect, these exchanges slowly became susceptible. This led to them being not listing ICOs as quickly as they used to.
This has made the token holders think that they might not be able to sell their ICO tokens on the centralized exchanges. Thus, centralized exchanges have slowly emerged as the platform where you can’t store your tokens safely and securely.
As an investor, you would really want to get your ICO tokens in and out of your exchange platform as quickly as possible in order to keep them secure from getting hacked.
Decentralized Exchanges
This is where decentralized exchanges come into play. They are not new to the cryptocurrency market and they are probably going to be the future of the digital assets.
What makes decentralized exchanges different from the centralized ones is that the architecture of the decentralized exchanges has no central controlling server. This means, your funds will not be held by the third-party escrows during the exchange transaction.
In this post, we will be focusing on the decentralized exchanges in the ethereum space as most of the volume demand when it comes to trading tokens hovers around ERC20 tokens.
1. EtherDelta EtherDelta has been around the crypto market for a while now and is used for trading ethereum-based cryptocurrency tokens. EtherDelta trades around 240 tokens and coins and all are compliant with ERC20. EtherDelta is a one big Smart Contract as it manages most of the site’s functions like trade orders, withdrawals, deposits and wallet integration. Also, you don’t have to register for anything. These features offer the investors more control over their tokens as compared to other exchanges.

It serves as a common building block and open standard, generating interoperability amongst the decentralized applications. 3. Kyber Network Kyber is a liquid, instant, trustless, and compatible decentralized exchange used by the investors to convert and exchange digital assets. What makes Kyber Network different from other traditional exchanges is that it offers low trading costs, secure against attacks, and allows instant trades. The investors can pay anyone in any token from their own token as it converts the tokens for seamless payments and transactions. Moreover, with the likes of derivative trading functionality, Kyber allows the investors to hedge their bets against price variations.
4. AirSwap This decentralized exchange is designed keeping in mind security and privacy of the traders.
