the New York Headquarters in the English section of the Verbatim Reporting Service
during its busiest period

Worked on high-level, high-profile regular and
emergency meetings on topics such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the
situation in Syria, the North Korea nuclear threat and the migrant crisis in
the Mediterranean.

Translated and edited
the speeches delivered by delegates, using the written statements and audio
recordings (of the original in the case of French, Spanish or English or of the
interpretation in the case of Arabic, Chinese or Russian) for reference. 

Combined the skills of
transcription, translation, editing and fact-checking to ensure the substantive
accuracy of all statements, while maintaining a uniformly high standard of
style under tight deadlines.

Mastered a wide range
of skills not normally associated with linguistics, including a thorough
knowledge and understanding of international affairs, highly developed research
skills, an in-depth mastery of parliamentary procedure, and the ability to work
creatively under pressure.

Project management role
in a small and close-knit London-based agency handling the translation needs of
a wide range of global clients, including Deloitte, IPPF, GSMA and the ETI.

Main duties
included client liaison to understand project detail, manage expectations
and develop ongoing
 relationships; reparation
of cost estimates for new projects; source text analysis, word counts, CAT
import and initial processing; selecting and briefing freelance translators;
creating, applying and maintaining translation memories; handling terminology
queries; monitoring project schedules and timely delivery of translations and
other project deliverables and general translation QA and occasional
language-specific proofreading. I also liaised with the in-house studio on
the typesetting aspects of project delivery and was involved in
project wrap-up, including translator performance evaluation/recording and
identifying opportunities for future improvements, as well as developing
