Source text - English For a moment I started to feel sorry for him. He whimpered in a highpitched whine and panted so heavily that I thought I pushed his ribs halfway into his throat. But then I saw it–still in his mouth, the reason for this whole ridiculousness, now covered in blood. In a moment of selfconfidence after my victory, I rolled up my sleeves, took a deep breath and reached a hand in there. Wrapped around one of those nasty teeth was a ring. Not just any ring–the ring.
Eight days, thirteen hours and ten minutes ago I asked my girl to marry me. The ring that I had carefully picked out for her was now wrapped like a lace bow around a beast’s tooth. Anyone would wonder why there was such expensive wrapping on a dirty, slobbery present.

Translation - Indonesian Untuk sesaat aku mulai merasa kasihan padanya. Dia merintih, merengek dengan nada tinggi dan sangat terengah-engah sehingga aku berpikir untuk mendorong tulang rusuknya setengah ke dalam tenggorokannya. Tapi kemudian aku melihatnya-benda itu masih ada di mulutnya, alasan di balik semua keanehan ini, sekarang bersimbah darah. Dalam momen kebanggaan setelah kemenangan, aku menggulung lengan bajuku, menarik napas dalam dan mengulurkan tanganku ke dalam. Sebuah cincin melingkar di salah satu dari gigi yang menjijikkan itu. Ini bukan sembarang cincing-tapi sebuah “cincin”.
Delapan hari, tiga belas jam dan sepuluh menit yang lalu, aku melamar gadisku untuk menikah. Cincin yang aku pilih dengan sangat hati-hati untuknya sekarang terbungkus seperti pita di sekitar gigi seekor makhluk buas. Siapa pun akan heran mengapa barang yang begitu mahal sekarang kotor dan basah.
