I was raised as a bilingual German and English speaker in California. After studying German Literature and Media Art at UCLA and Humboldt Universität Berlin, I received my MFA in Fine Art from the University of California, Berkeley. I have been based in Berlin since 2007, working as a freelance German-to-English translator, editor, and proofreader specializing in contemporary art, culture, and theory.
I have experience working in the areas of art, film, fashion, cultural studies, literature, history, psychoanalysis, and philosophy. I am also an active artist, writer, and university lecturer.
Reliability, confidentiality, commitment to quality, and meticulous attention to detail are my guiding principles. Past clients include artists, academics, art magazines, art foundations, universities, museums, and galleries. My experience includes translating and/or editing articles, essays, dissertations, book chapters, presentations, artist statements, bios, grant proposals, cover letters, press releases, resumes, and websites. I am happy to provide specific references upon request.
My rates are consistent with industry standards and vary depending on the urgency of the deadline, total length of text, and subject matter. Please email me to find out more, request a quote, or discuss a project.
