Bio

Subject: Application for the vacancy as a freelace
translator, lector and/or transcriptor

Dear Sirs,

I am currently completing my Bachelor’s degree
in Translation and Interpretation at the Ruprecht-Karls University of
Heidelberg. Officially, I have already finished the Bachelor last year but I
decided to participate in a Bachelor Plus Program wherefore I am currently
doing an internship at the ISTRAD (Instituto Superior de Idiomas y Traducción).

Because of the election of the degree, it can
be said that I am interested in new languages and foreign cultures. As
languages are mostly one of the principal barriers, which hold people up from
living plainly and communicating freely, I dedicated myself to learn as many
languages as possible. Therefore, amongst other things, I can speak five
languages: German, Russian, English, Spanish and French, though every single
one at a different level.

In terms of the work as a translator, it is
crucial to point out that I have already done an internship as a technical
translator at the company Salvador Escoda S.A. working on their German website,
manuals and product descriptions. Thus, I have gained knowledge about the
working environment at a big company. Furthermore, I am familiarized with
several text editing programs (Word, Excel, Power Point) and translation tools (Across, Trados, Memsource).

In addition to that, I gained a lot of
knowledge in the political, economic, juridical, cultural and cultural fields based
on the practical translation work that we were usually doing. Though my main
working languages were German, Spanish and Russian, English is indispensable
nowadays wherefore it was always included. As the Bachelor pays particular
attention to languages, the students acquire a certain sensitivity regarding
their uses. Lecturing texts represents one of the skills that I have obtained
in course of the degree.

In addition, I worked at a lawyer’s office in
the administration department for a year wherefore I am capable of working in a
team but doing tasks on my own does not intimidate me at all. I am not afraid
of difficult tasks; however, I am well aware of when I have to ask for help. That
be said, I am assumingly a very responsible and independent person, who is suitable
for the profession as a freelancer.

I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Anastasia Franz
