I'm an Australian-born translator who left Aussie shores in 2007 to spend a few months in Europe - only to discover Spanish and forget to return home. I’m now based in Chile (specifically in Chiloé, just north of Patagonia) in a rural area above the sea.
I studied event management and performance studies, then qualified as an EFL teacher. I spent four years in Spain teaching English to children and adults in academy and company settings, and taught English for Academic Purposes in Australia. While in Spain, I lived and worked with South Americans, whose happy talk of their homelands inspired my move to their continent. Still living in Chile, I'm in constant contact with the Spanish language, local culture, and news - which feeds my work as a translator and copywriter.
Why collaborate with me
As a translator, copywriter, and editor I have partnered with companies working in travel and tourism, as well as education, government, the non-profit sector, and Creative Industries.
When you partner with me you benefit from working with a freelancer who knows that translating is not a question of swapping out words, but of communicating meaning and nuance. I’m endlessly entertained and fascinated by the search for the perfect word - and enjoy nothing more than being surrounded by dictionaries and thesauri (love a good Latin ending, right?) beating a path to the words that will tell your story as it should be told.
