Native Bulgarian speaker with a Master Degree in Bulgarian Philology, a Postgraduate Degree in English Language and a recent Translator Training Course in the areas of Literature, Social Sciences and General translations.
I have 20+ years of professional experience as a full-time English teacher to students and adults and a part-time, freelance translator. The English - Bulgarian - English translations I have completed cover a range of areas and types of texts, such as school projects & educational materials (volunteer translations); university students’ projects in the fields of Literature, Linguistics and Marketing (incl. volunteer translations); reports on archaeological excavations (early Neolithic period, rescue archaeology projects); summary of beauty product characteristics & cosmetic brochures; general media reports (politics, society, culture, arts, tourism and travel, fashion and style etc.); restaurant menus & cooking recipes (Bulgarian, French, Italian, Greek, English, German cuisine), etc.
I offer dedicated, serious, responsible and friendly translation services. Faithfulness, accuracy, confidentiality and punctuality are a must for me. Every assignment, from the shortest culinary recipe to the longest archaeological report, I approach with the same professional care and attention. I also consider the dialogue with my clients to be an essential part of the process of creating an accurate and readable translation.
I would never undertake a translation that is not in my sphere of competence (for example technical, medical or legal translations); to do otherwise is unprofessional and unethical.
My rates are flexible and negotiable depending on the duration, the deadline and the complexity of the project.
Translation has always been my most pleasurable, intellectually and emotionally rewarding activity, the perfect job for a philologist who has a lifelong affair with words and a curious mind. I would be very happy to work with you and to share my knowledge and experience.
