German to English: Literary Text from "Dschungelkind". (Jungle Child) General field: Other Detailed field: Other
Translation - English What seems unimaginable to us- Sabine Kuegler has experienced: As a daughter of a German researcher, she spent her childhood in the middle of the jungle of West Papua New Guinea with a forgotten tribe of cannibals.
Until the age of seventeen, she knew no cars, no television and no stores. She didn't play with dolls, but rather, she swam with crocodiles in the river- and experienced already early on the old rituals of the dead. Nature was her playground, the jungle her home, the sky her roof.
Today, after years in Europe, her soul is caught between two cultures. Sabine Kuegler knows that she has to return back- back to a world which for many no longer exists.

I fell in love with German language at the age of 14 when I started taking it in high school. I did so well that I went on to study German at the university in Sacramento where I received a BA degree in German. I spent 1 year living abroad and studying German language, grammar, history and culture at Heidelberg University, West Germany. I still have friends in Germany and like to stay current in the language by speaking, writing letters/emails in German. I enjoy reading books in German grammar and novels in order to brush up on my translation skills. In addition, I have experience teaching English as a foreign language abroad in northern China, Taiwan, and South Korea, as well as some secondary (high school) teaching experience in German language after receiving my California teaching credential.
I am a professional flight attendant with a major airline who loves foreign languages, traveling and exploring other cultures.
