Hi, my name is Pier and I am an Italian translator and interpreter working with English and Russian. I have studied translation and interpreting at the University of Genoa, graduating cum laude in 2018. Although I can speak other languages too, I decided not to list them as I only translate from and to the languages I actually studied and have working experience in.
Being a translator is always a job of great responsibility and one by which you never stop studying—finding out news things and exploring new fields is what I like most about my job. I am also keen on travelling and I have lived in the UK and Russia, where I taught English to kids.
ART & MUSEUMS
I have translated texts for museums and exhibitions, one of my last works was for the exhibition "The museums' century: 100 masterpieces from the Russian imperial palaces of Peterhof, Tsarskoe Selo, Gatchina, Pavlovsk", which opened in Palermo in October 2018 and is part of the greater project "Russian Seasons in Italy".
CATERING, TOURISM & TRAVEL/MARKETING
I have been working for 3 years as a tourist guide for a Genoese company (treecycle Genoa), where I have also been translating and localizing website contents and business correspondence. This has given me an insight into the tourist industry, which proved really helpful later when working for other clients in the fields (mainly hotels and restaurants).
LITERATURE & THEATRE
I am a passionate reader and love translating English and Russian short stories in my free time. I have also been translating Russian theatre plays into Italian, one of my last jobs being The Polar Truth by Yuri Klavdev/Semen Aleksandrovskii, which was staged in July 2018 in Spoleto, during the prestigious Spoleto Festival.
