Source text - Portuguese Eu costumava ser uma estrela. No entanto, não me vou aprofundar nesses detalhes, porque esta história não é sobre mim, é sobre ele.
Existir é uma condição indiferente, conspícua e tola para as estrelas. As estrelas não usufruem da mudança repentina e são incapazes de diferenciar lástima, afeto e perda. Estão destinadas a ensejar na sua própria oosfera. Os humanos não, eles são temporários, a sua existência é tão limitada que uma vida, ainda que bem vivida, não detém tempo suficiente para que se possam preservar dos vícios. E eu, diante da imensidão do espaço e tempo, decidi que era uma parvoíce focar-me nessas comparações. A sério, não vale a pena. Há coisas mais interessantes por aí.
Estava a pastorear pelo Cosmos, aquele espaço insosso e proscrito da dádiva do som, quando um zumbido baixo e improvável me chamou a atenção.

Translation - English I used to be a star. However, I will not delve further into details because this story isn’t about me, it’s about him.
For stars, existing is indifferent, conspicuous and foolish. Stars don’t enjoy sudden change and cannot distinguish pity, affection and loss. We are destined to crave in our own oosphere. On the other hand, humans are temporary, their existence is as limited as a life, even if well lived, they don’t have enough time to maintain addictions. I, before the vastness of space and time, decided it would be pointless to focus on such comparisons. It isn’t worth it. There are more interesting things out there.
I was walking through the Cosmos, dull and void of the gift of sound, when a small and improbable noise came to my attention.

Bio
I'm a translation and interpreting undergraduate, I was recently working as a freelance translator at GoodHabitz (PT-PT - PT-BR). I have also worked as a volunteer translator, subtitling videos for TED and Coursera (ENG - PT-BR). I translated the weekly menu of Teaching Restaurant "Estação Bistrô" as part of my internship while in college (PT-BR - ENG). I translated the tale "Agora, Depois e Sempre” (“Now, After and Always”) and the book "Ágape - Uma Promessa de Outras Vidas" ("Ágape - A Promise from Other Lives") by Francine Rodrigues Maia (PT-BR - ENG), among other volunteer translations.
