My education is in literature (Reed College - President's Award; Brown University) and in linguistics (SOAS, University of London - Distinction).

I came into translation through journalism. My most longstanding client is a French financial news service, for which I produce the English edition daily. There are not a lot of news services that are published daily in more than one language, but the speeds involved in this kind of work have applications in many other fields. I have also been able to leverage my transcription skills, drawn from my training in linguistics and journalism, for a variety of clients, in timely fields such as medicine and law.

Over my years in the translation industry I have had the pleasure of working for a wide variety of clients, and I have had the pleasure of translating some memorable work. In particular, I think of some of my work for development agencies, in insurance and banking, architecture and construction, mechanics and engineering, medical equipment, surveys and survey responses, museums and art, as some of the fields where I have been able to bring value to my clients. But some of the more memorable have been sporting goods, events, and other unique assignments.

I have also had a career in television and radio, as a presenter. I have done voiceovers, and also subtitling in my journalistic work. Some of the
websites I wrote during my career in the nascent Internet industry of the 2000s are still operating some 17 years later, under the
names I gave them.

I take a lot of pride in my clients, and I enjoy being a part of creating value for them. I make it the most important part of my objective to ensure that every client gets precisely the copy they need.

If I can help people communicate, typically they want to do it again. That makes me happy. I consider it a mark of success to have ongoing relationships with my clients, and I am pleased to say some of them have lasted as many as 13 years.
