I was born in Bruges, to a Flemish speaking family (so it's safe to say I am an expert when it comes to the West-Flemish accent!). After obtaining a bachelor degree in social work, I decided to continue studying and go for a master of science degree in public administration and public management. I am still a social worker by heart though, that will never change.
I found my 'calling' in working with refugees, illegal immigrants and homeless people. Next to that, I did several volunteer jobs in the social field, mainly youth work. I also started pursuing a career in Belgian politics. However, during this time, I also met the man who is now my husband. He applied for a job in Saudi Arabia and of we went. There are no words to describe our time in the Middle East. We both very much enjoyed it and hope to go back one day.
After 14 months of working in Saudi, my husband got transferred to Chattanooga Tennessee and here we are. My experience in the world of interpreting and translating is still very limited. My motivation and perseverance however, is not. A few months ago, I started a job interpreting on the phone and now I would also like to pursue a career as freelance translator. I can provide exeptional translation services, especially in the fields of social science, political science and public admininstration/public management. Also, I have excellent knowledge of most Flemish dialects, proven to be very useful for transcriptions!
