I was born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. At school I took English, Ancient Greek, Latin, Dutch, German and French and when I came across the word "polyglot" I decided that was what I was going to be one day. I read Law at the Erasmus University and studied music at the Rotterdam Conservatory.

I always loved reading, languages and traveling. I went to study at the Paris Conservatoire for one year and then moved to London to continue my musical studies. I have spent the last 25 years traveling the world both for work as a member of various London orchestras as well as for pleasure in my time off.

In London I studied at the Open University and took mathematics, physics, renewable energy and engineering courses. I'm interested in a wide variety of subjects and read in English, French, Dutch, German, Italian. For my music work have translated contracts, newspaper articles, biographies, program notes, cd booklets etc. I have done quality reviews in English, transcriptions, brochure translations etc.

In the last few years I have worked for Global Connections, Synergy, Fast Translator and other agencies. I have translated a musical instrument website containing over 2 million words, tourist guidebooks, recipes, and numerous legal translations.
