Editing of English texts: Books, Articles and other writings
Welcome to my listing. I am a full time professional editor of English texts and a translator of Spanish to English in the areas of literature and economics.
I have a postgraduate degree in literary translation and
translate poetry, fiction and nonfiction.
Prior to this I have fifteen years work experience in the financial markets in New York and London and accordingly translate or edit texts related to central banks, private banks, equities, bonds, derivatives, economic forecasting, and financial regulation.
I also do editing of English texts unrelated to translation. This can involve substantive editing to improve the presentation of the content, copy editing to assure consistency in the text, and proofreading for style and grammatical correctness. Many of the books, articles and communications I work with are written by non-native speakers.
The texts I work on can be in either US or UK English. I was born in the US and did my university and postgraduate education there (Northwestern University and Bryn Mawr College) and have written books in US English (https://www.amazon.com/Carol-Finley;/e/B001KHXWES/). In London, I had work experience, further education (Sotheby's Institute) and training from the Society for Editors and Proofreaders. Additionally, I have editorial training from the University of Chicago, Graham School. My translation degree is from Universidad Pompeu Fabra in Spain.
The reason I do this work is because I enjoy working with the written word—every project is unique. Please feel free to get in touch for any further information and with the particulars regarding your project. I would be happy to hear from you!
