My name is Tommy
Rooijakkers (1975), I come from the south of the Netherlands, from that narrow
strip between the borders of Germany and Belgium.
In addition to the
Germanic languages and dialects that are all frequently spoken here I made myself
familiar with the English language at a young age as a musician and
singer-songwriter.
With my songs and the
fascination for language and culture I travelled extensively throughout Europe
during my youth, living in Ireland and Austria.
From 1998 to 2007 I
lived mostly in Spain where I became acquainted with the Spanish language and
culture. Initially I was mostly working in the leisure and tourist industry,
but since 2005 I've been specializing more and more towards translating,
interpreting, administration and call-centers.
Since 2007 I have been
employed by various international companies in the Netherlands, Germany and
Bulgaria in a wide range of fields such as technical and financial support,
logistics and the food industry.
I've been translating
and interpreting as part of my contracted jobs since 2007 and have been working
as a freelance translator since 2012.
My trademark are
thoughtful translations on a wide-range of topics reaching from Buddhism and
music to technical and financial documentations.
