Bio

Dear Client,

I am a professional Italian translator based in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. The view on the stunning countryside of the Black Forest through the window of my home office provides me with inspiration and good vibes while translating Your texts.

Having decided to make my passion for foreign languages and cultures my future profession, I moved from my homeland Italy after graduating from school to pursue my translation studies in Germany – my mother’s country I had always been fond of. After completing a Bachelor’s degree course at the Faculty of Translation Studies, Linguistics and Cultural Studies (FTSK) of the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz and awarding a Master’s degree at the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (IÜD) of the University of Heidelberg, I entered the translation industry as a Translation project manager. The appointment as a sworn translator for the Italian language at the district court of Freiburg as well as the welcoming into the German association of interpreters and translators BDÜ laid the foundations to start my activity as a freelance translator.

I provide high quality translations in the following fields:

Official documents, certificates, diplomas

  • Sworn translations German to Italian / Italian to German
  • My bi-lingual and bi-cultural background ensures perfect understanding of the Source language document as well as adequate rendering into the Target language.

Marketing/advertising

  • I have gained professional experience in the translation of various Websites as well as of Product descriptions of Cosmetics.

Medicine

  • The focus of my Master’s degree programme in Specialized Translation, I am very well acquainted with the specialties of the medical language.

Law

  • After taking part in lectures on German, Italian and US law at the Law Faculty of the University of Heidelberg, I wrote my Master’s theses on the translation of “legal realia” in English, German and Italian legal thrillers. I have experience in translating contracts, legal notices and privacy statements.

Out of personal interest I am also acquainted with the specialties of Swiss Italian (of course, Lo Svizzonario is one of the dictionaries I refer to).

If You are looking for:

  • A personal, direct contact: someone who cares about Your texts;
  • A reliable partner: someone who delivers extremely accurate work respecting all project specifications and ensuring punctual deliveries;

reach out to me!

I look forward to hearing from You.

Kind regards,

Alessia Rabasca
