I specialize in translation of scientific reports--especially environmental reports from mining ventures. I am also highly qualified for translating correspondence--both personal and business. However, it would be a great joy for me to translate something non-technical--such as a personal essay on new-age spirituality, a letter from someone's grandmother in Volgograd, or a fairy tale! I have probably written over 500 letters (personal and professional) in Russian, and have read an equal or greater number.
I have four years of professional translating experience. Between 1995 and 1998, I lived an worked as an ex-pat translator, editor, and intermediary in Russia and Kazakhstan for an average of three months out of the year. I worked as the primary Russian-language editor and coordinator in preparing a 300-page environmental document in Almaty, Kazakhstan. I have served as translator, liaison, and field specialist for eight joint-venture mining clients in the Russian Far East, Siberia, and Central Asia. For written translation, I charge $0.12 per word. I welcome you to send attached files in Cyrillic. Should you find it necessary, you may also wish to send me the original Russian text via fax, snail mail, express mail, FedEx, or other means. I can supply a fax number upon request.
