My name is
Jose Canedo and I was born in Germany, but my parents moved back to Spain when
I was just three months old, therefore my native language is Spanish.
At 47, I
retired from the Army after 28 years of service. Now my job is to raise my
kids, aged 8 and 12.
I have
spent most of my career in field units, being deployed on several international
missions in Europe, Asia and Africa, and qualified in Tanks, Diving, Mountain
Warfare, Artic Warfare, Para jumping, Sniping and some other skills.
English has
always been appealing to me, having qualified several times to the NATO SLP
4444.
Due to my
English qualification, I have had the opportunity to work along international
forces all over Europe, and even participated twice as the coach/team leader of
the Spanish sniper team in the International Sniper Competition held yearly in
Ft. Benning, Georgia.
The
downside of my English proficiency showed when I was posted for two years to
reinforce the NATO Headquarters based in Valencia, Spain, where the only working
language is English, full time, instead of spending that time with my
operational unit.
I have also
obtained Portuguese NATO SLP 3232, and a very basic knowledge of Serb-Croatian,
Dari, and Sango.
Meanwhile,
I have been pursuing a Degree in English Philology, having fulfilled more than
half of the credits, where all the English language related matters are passed
already, including a C2 exam, and what
is missing is basically learning a complementary language (French, Italian or
German), plus Greek, Latin, a bit of Modern Literature, and the final Thesis.
I have
found time to put my language skills to good use, and you will not be
disappointed because my English knowledge is not purely academic, and I drive
myself in a very professional manner.
