Source text - Portuguese Nas duas últimas décadas, a expressão agricultura familiar foi intensamente disseminada no mundo ocidental, especialmente, nas chamadas economias emergentes. De acordo com a FAO/ONU, a “agricultura familiar” define, ao mesmo tempo, um grupo social e um modelo de produção rural baseada nos conceitos de “segurança alimentar” e “soberania alimentar”, em um mercado globalizado de preços. No Brasil, a “agricultura familiar” assumiu uma perspectiva concreta especialmente por meio da criação, em 1995, do Programa Nacional de Fortalecimento da Agricultura Familiar (PRONAF). Desde 2003 o PRONAF vem se consolidando e se expandindo, oferecendo microcrédito subsidiado para famílias de pequenos agricultores, visando a geração de renda e a promoção da inclusão financeira (mercado). Por mais de três anos (2015-2018), eu conduzi pesquisa de campo com pequenos agricultores de café habitantes das montanhas do Caparaó, no sudeste brasileiro. Eu abordei o tema da mudança social por meio das experiencias vividas na reprodução, consumo, habitação e trabalho, considerando como as práticas domésticas se relacionam com o capitalismo. Este artigo descreve e analisa como o advento local do crédito estatal influenciou o modo pelo qual os pequenos agricultores definem o “mercado”, tanto no seu modelo abstrato quanto no local. Como o mercado é reconhecido e realizado por eles? Quais tipos de relações sociais, conhecimentos e tensões essa influência cria? Considerando essas questões, eu esboço algumas contribuições para os campo dos estudos de mercado, particularmente examinando a situação de mercados múltiplos.
Translation - English In the past two decades, the expression “family farming” has been intensively disseminated in Western countries, especially, in emerging economies. According to the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO/UN), “family farming” defines both a socioeconomic group and a rural production model based on concepts of “food security” and “food sovereignty” in a globalized price market. In Brazil, “family farming” has assumed a concrete perspective, especially through the creation of the National Program to Strengthen Family Farming in 1995. Since 2003 it has been consolidated and expanded, providing subsidized microcredit for small family farmers to generate income and promote financial (market) inclusion. For more than three years (2015-2018), I conducted field research with small coffee farmers living in the Caparaó mountains in southeast Brazil. I approached social change through lived experiences of reproduction, consumption, housing and labor, considering how household practices relate to capitalism. This paper describes and analyzes how the local emergence of state credit has influenced how small farmers define “market”, in both its abstract and local models. How is the market recognized and realized by them? What kinds of social relations, knowledge and tensions does this influence create? Considering these questions, I sketch some contributions to market studies, particularly examining a situation of multiple markets.
