I must have spent most of my holidays during my teens on French, Italian (and even Norwegian) exchanges absorbing the culture, language and food of each of those nations. Eventually my love affair with Europe culminated in moving to Florence for a couple of years to embark on a degree in History of Art at the city's university. After several months of stuggling to get into overcrowded lecture rooms I accepted defeat and returned to the UK to complete a Masters at Edinburgh University in Spanish and Italian (with Portuguese). During the third year of my MA I spent some time working in Lisbon for a market research company and six months working in Seville in the tourist industry.
After graduating from Edinburgh, I spent 6 months in the European Commission as an intern in the Economic Development DG. This was followed by a career in international telecoms, sales and business development which took me from London to Sydney and back to the UK again. When in the UK, I spent part of my working week meeting with potential partners, senior management and customers in Paris, Madrid, Lisbon and Rome.
After several years in the telecoms industry, by which time I was managing the UK wholesale telecoms business of a large multinational, I decided to re-train as a homeopath as I have always been interested in natural health and wellbeing. I have been a registered professional homeopath since 2010.
I am currently studying a post-grad MA in Translation Studies at Portsmouth University, specialising in translation from Italian to English. I can also offer translation from Spanish, French and Portuguese into English. I now have three children in secondary school and beyond and would like to get back to using my languages. So I am looking for clients seeking translation from Italian, French, Spanish or Portuguese into English, in fields such as tourism and travel, telecoms and economic development and health and wellbeing, including medical.
