CV/Resume English (DOCX)

Hey everyone, My name is Edgardo Salgado I am from Barranquilla, Colombia and I am a Spanish and English teacher, translator, proofreader and interpreter living in New York City. I grew up in Colombia but I had the opportunity to learn English since I was in preschool which makes my English level near-native. I have used this to my advantage teaching Spanish and English ). I enjoy learning/reading about linguistics, philosophy and science. I also enjoy and work with art, mostly as a freelance Illustrator.
I believe having a native grasp in both English and Spanish is an advantage. It allows me to easily translate idiomatic concepts and expressions that don’t have literal equivalent from one language to the other. I can draw meaning from my native understanding of both languages (and my experience in using both in daily life) to find the right examples and the closest translations from the source to the target language. I studied linguistics and even thought this is not at all a requirement to teach or translate a language, I've found it helps a lot!
