Cancer is the world's second leading cause of death and in 2015 it claimed 8.8 million lives, with nearly one in six deaths worldwide.
Low- and middle-income countries account for approximately 70% of cancer deaths.
Moreover, approximately one third of cancer deaths occur due to the following five behavioural and nutritional risk factors: high body mass, insufficient intake of fruits and vegetables, lack of physical activity and use of tobacco and alcohol.
Tobacco use is the most significant cancer risk factor being responsible for nearly 22% of cancer deaths.
Cancer-causing infections, such as hepatitis and HPV, are responsible for up to 25% of cancers in low- and middle-income countries.

Bio

I have 7 years experience in translation and editing. I am a scientific graduate and I’ve worked in research, pharmaceuticals and for the national health service (NHS) as a Genomics Scientist.I grew up in the Middle East but I attended a British International School and I have spoken English and Arabic since I first started to speak. To me, they are both my native languages. I am a scientist but I am also a middle distance runner. Perseverance is key to both running and translation when you want to deliver a perfect picture.

I am an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) and I am also a member of the Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders (CIEP). The CIOL and the CIEP are both professional bodies in the UK that ensure translators, interpreters, editors and proofreaders all work to exceptionally high standards.
