Source text - English "This reflects basic shortcomings in food-system governance: urgent priorities and skyrocketing human and economic costs are simply failing to translate into effective solutions. Food has generally been considered a good rather than a socio-ecological system that requires democratic management in the collective interest. Changes are thus needed in the way policies are decided and priorities set. The most urgently needed improvements are social, organizational and managerial, without which the most essential technological advances will not achieve their full potential."
Translation - Portuguese "Isto é o reflexo de deficiências básicas na administração dos sistemas alimentares: há um falhanço claro na tentativa de traduzir em soluções eficazes as prioridades urgentes e os custos exponenciais a nível humano e económico. Ao invés de um sistema socio-ecológico que pede uma gestão pública focada no interesse público, a alimentação tem sido abordada como uma mercadoria. São portanto necessárias alterações no modo como as prioridades são definidas e as políticas são desenhadas. Source text - Portuguese É apenas uma possibilidade. Mas porque não pensar a cidade como um indício? Digamos que de noite, vistas de cima. Extensas figuras geométricas, tamanho incerto, apenas forma, segmentos de recta numa tela negra. Ou de dia, dentro. Fachadas altas a cortar o céu, seladas em cada janela, apenas anunciando os pátios nas traseiras. E também no lixo, na expectativa, na imagem. Em todo o caso muitas mãos. Contudo, silhueta. Espelho, repetição, fotografia, mas silhueta. Sempre silhueta. Assim, a cidade tem um dorso, uma fronte, uma nuca. E deseja-se, sim, em mil vozes repetidas, sempre novas. Mesmo que possa nunca existir. Que possa nunca ter existido.
Translation - English Though just a possibility. Why shouldn’t one think of the city as a glimpse, a whisper, maybe a clue? At night, for instance, seen from above. Long geometrical figures, their size uncertain, only shape, blurry lines on a black canvas. Or during the daytime, amidst. Tall façades razing the skies, sealed in every window, the backyards only whispered by the traffic. And also in the garbage, hope, billboards. In every case numerous hands. And yet a silhouette. Mirror, repetition, pictures, but a silhouette. Always a silhouette. Thus the city has a torso, a forehead, a nape. Desired loudly by a thousand voices, continuous and always new. Even if it may never come to be. If it may have never existed.

Born in Lisbon, Portugal, and living in Berlin, I have a BA in Philosophy, which I completed before moving to Germany in 2018. I am currently enrolled in a Philosophy MA at the Freie Universität. Philosophy has been my starting point for every project I pursue, giving me not only a solid base but the possibility of problematisation. Language falls within both. On one hand, I have a very logical approach to linguistics. On the other, I am an active writer and a published poet, so I also like to explore less obvious possibilities.
I have been teaching Portuguese and German as a private tutor for a couple of years now. Initially led by curiosity, I got to realise that it could be a nice way for me to exercise and get to know more of how language works, how one may make herself understandable, communicate meaningfully. As it become progressively more serious, I have already translated wide number of texts, ranging from legal documents to poetry. All I aim at is getting better.
