Hi!

I have a master’s degree in translation studies from the University of Vaasa.

• Major: Language expertise in a specialized society
• Minor: Cross-cultural communication
• MA Thesis: Evaluated the usability of the Finnish translation of a video game
• BA Thesis: Studied the metamorphosis of the horror film genre

I specialize in topics related to history, culture, films, and video games. In addition to master’s degree I have a vocational upper secondary qualification in information technology from Vaasa vocational institute (which means that I might understand a thing or two about computers). I am also interested in a variety of sports, such as football, ice hockey, skateboarding, and skydiving – with the latter two being my own hobbies as well. I am also a film fanatic (and a collector – not the film “collector”, just a film collector). I have a thirst for new knowledge and I am always up for a new challenge. I am a diligent, honest and hardworking translator.

Olen opiskellut Vaasan yliopistossa filosofian maisteriksi kääntäjän opintojen parissa.

• Pääaine: Kieliasiantuntijuus erikoistuneessa yhteiskunnassa
• Sivuaine: Kulttuurienvälinen viestintä
• Pro Gradu -tutkielma: Arvioin erään videopelin suomenkielisen käännöksen käytettävyyttä
• Kandidaatin tutkielma: Tutkin kauhuelokuvagenren muodonmuutosta

Erikoisalaani ovat historia, kulttuuri, elokuvat ja videopelit. Maisterin tutkinnon lisäksi olen käynyt tietojenkäsittelyn perustutkinnon Vaasan ammattiopistossa (saatan tietää jotain tietokoneista). Olen myös kiinnostunut monista urheilulajeista, kuten jalkapallosta, jääkiekosta, rullalautailusta ja laskuvarjohyppimisestä – joista kaksi jälkimmäistä kuuluvat omiin harrastuksiini. Myös elokuvat ja niiden keräily kuuluvat harrastuksiini. Janoan uutta tietoa ja olen aina valmis vastaanottamaan uusia haasteita. Olen tunnollinen, rehellinen ja työtä pelkäämätön kääntäjä.
