I started off my career as a translator at the Biological Institute of Parasitic and Infectious Agents at the Federal University of the State of Pará (UFPA), in Brazil. Since then I have been involved with translations in the most diverse fields but almost always within the scientific realm, mostly translating scientific articles from Portuguese into English so that they could then be published in specialized international scientific journals. I strongly believe that translating such technical niche subjects has helped me elevate my translation skills to a whole new level. Apart from these experiences as a translator, I have also worked in many distinct areas of expertise: from culinary arts and mixology to business management, civil aviation security, and architecture & urbanism. Being able to interface with so many different industries has positively contributed to my skills as a translator by expanding my knowledge of a broad range of different subjects.
I have worked as a translator throughout my entire professional career even as I undertook other professional capacities. Working as a translator was a very natural progression for me since I have been bilingual from a very early age and have a native-level ability in written and spoken English and Portuguese due to my multi-cultural upbringing in Brazil at an English speaking international school.
A superb translation goes beyond simply making sense to the final reader, it resonates with them seamlessly so that they find no evidence that it was originally written in a language foreign to them. I strive to always achieve this level of quality in my translations, and that is why I take great pride in what I do and feel a real sense of satisfaction in the translation process.
