 Company profile

Terralingua is a language consulting and translation services company with offices in USA, Brazil, Portugal and Spain.

Terralingua, Inc. was started by Luis Howe-Martim. Luis has been a freelancer since 1980 and an in-house senior translator at WordPerfect Corporation, and Novell, Inc., and had developed a large network of colleagues in both Spanish and Portuguese. He decided that the time was right to start his own agency and began the process while working on his Ph.D. at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He subsequently moved to Livermore to set-up Terralingua’s headquarters.

We currently only work with the following languages: Portuguese (Brazilian & European), Spanish (European & Latin American) and English. Other European and Asian languages are planned for 2000. Our success is strictly based on our ability to deliver quality work and provide a service that best suits our clients needs. We are proud of our work!

 Our organization has been designed to increase your market exposure and success through:

 Quality

It is the core of our business.

Each project we undertake is routed to our offices overseas for translation, editing and proofreading by native speakers working in that particular area of expertise. Upon receiving the project, our in-house linguists will review it one last time before sending it to the client. This allows us to see that the final rendering of the translation is as accurate and culturally sensitive as possible.

Both in-house and independent contractors are highly qualified professionals, most of them hold post-graduate degrees.

This process and our people guarantee us the highest quality possible.

 Efficiency

 Our projects are coordinated in California allowing us to be close to our client base in the USA, while our overseas offices remain close to our client’s affiliate offices for any necessary consultation.

We rely on our simply designed infrastructure to guarantee an efficient interaction between our California headquarters, overseas offices and our clients.

With a vast network of specialized translators, editors, proofreaders and project managers, we are confident in providing the fastest turnaround time to meet your deadlines.

 Value

We offer very competitive rates to corporations, individuals, and translation agencies.

We are always open to discuss a translation strategy that best suits your needs and budget.

 Confidentiality

 We only work with translators that have signed a non-disclosure agreement with Terralingua to assure our clients the strictest rules of confidentiality.

 Our staff consists of highly trained technical and linguistic personnel with a wide variety of expertise and several years of experience.
 Our operations involve our offices in Brazil, Portugal and Spain and their respective production centers.
 Our mission is to provide first-rate technical translation and localization services to establish a long-term relationship with all of our clients.

 Company services

Each translation project ALWAYS involves four steps and four people, even if it’s just a one-page document.

 Step 1. Translation

At Terralingua we specialize in translation of documents in the following areas:

 Software localization, on-line Help, and documentation
 Multimedia
 Medical literature
 Highly technical engineering projects
 Legal and trade agreements
 Telecommunications
 Marketing and advertising materials
 Financial and banking documents
 TV and film subtitles
 Web site translation

We have software specialists for software localization, lawyers working on legal documents, physicians working on medical and pharmaceutical materials, engineers for complex engineering projects, and linguists to always ensure the fluency and language adequacy of all documents.

All of our translators are native speakers and all have higher education degrees and a vast amount of experience in their areas of expertise. They are all certified professionals. In addition, we have created specialized teams of translators, editors and proofreaders to guarantee our clients the quality work they expect when hiring our services. No less!

 Step 2. Editing
 Upon completing Step 1: Translation, the project is sent to an editor that will check the accuracy, syntax, language adequacy, and consistency problems.
 At Terralingua we work with translation teams to be able to always have the same team members working on specific client projects. This procedure allows us to ensure that the terminology and style is always consistent with client’s corporate image.

 Step 3. Proofreading
 After completing Step 2: Editing, our overseas office will have a in-house reviewer check the hard copy version of the document and in turn send the project to our headquarters in California for a final Quality Control check.

 Step 4. Quality Control
 Immediately after Step 3: Proofreading, and before delivering any document to our clients, a native speaker project manager will perform a final Quality Control check. The project manager will then, evaluate the quality of translation and send the feedback to our overseas office.

 This final step, Quality Control, ensures that the translation is accurate from linguistic, technical and cultural viewpoints in order to guarantee a consistent corporate message and that the client’s guidelines were followed according to instructions.
