Source text - English At the end of World War II, Britain appeared to be in a state of retrograde. Six years of bombings had taken a brutal toll on the landscape and the mental wellbeing of the nation. Bombsites and ruins dominated the physical space at ground level, while a heavy post-war fog cast a continuous grey shadow over all facets of life. The fog, especially, became the symbol of backwardness and deterioration of Britain in the post-war epoch.
Translation - Spanish Tras la conclusión de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, Reino Unido parecía estar en un estado retrógrado. Los seis años de bombardeos fueron devastadores tanto para la geografía del país como para el bienestar mental de sus habitantes. Los emplazamientos de bomba y las ruinas causadas por la guerra llenaban la tierra, mientras una niebla oscura característica de la posguerra proyectaba una sombra de miseria sobre todos los aspectos de la vida. Esta niebla acabó convirtiéndose en un símbolo del retraso y del deterioro sufrido en país durante el periodo de la posguerra.

Hi! My name is Daniel. I am originally from Glasgow, United kingdom but at the age of 7 I moved to Spain, where I became fluent in Spanish. I spent 11 years in Spain before moving to London to study an undergraduate degree in Art History. During the first year of my course, I chose Italian as one of my elective subjects. Italian was easy enough for me to grasp due to its similarities to Spanish, and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to continue with it until the end of my degree. As a result, I picked up my third language!
I currently work in the hospitality industry as the Head of Coffee for an East London-based bakery. However, I would describe myself as someone who is both energetic and dynamic, and I would love to use my languages to help others and to make use of the rest of my time.
Given my educational background, I would say I specialise mostly in historical and art historical translation, as well as translation for media and advertising.
