Growing up as a Taiwanese American, I was exposed to different languages and cultures from a young age. I attended Chinese language school throughout my formal education years, which gave me a solid foundation in Mandarin Chinese. I have always been interested in the arts and different languages, and eventually majored in both Japanese and Design in university. These language and arts skills, combined with my English writing skills - picked up from a childhood filled with voracious reading - enabled me to live and work in Taiwan for several years following graduation, first as a web and graphic designer, then as an in-house translator for an academic translation firm. My work at the academic translation firm gave me translation experience in a vast variety of fields, and more importantly taught me how to perform research thoroughly and efficiently. While I have professional experience in Design, I am confident that I can accurately translate most Chinese to English documents, particularly within the business, medical, and social science fields. |
