I am a freelance translator with a 10 year's experience in the translation of political, business and financial documents. I hold a Master's degree in the translation of literature and poetry and have attended translation courses in Mexico, France, Portugal and Brazil. I have also translated documents on human rights and UN development programs, in addition to agreements entered into by the Mexico Ministry of Foreign Affairs, annual reports for Mexico's National Lottery, legal documents (mainly contracts, bills of sale, etc.)and have been translating soap operas and publicity material for a large broadcasting company in Mexico for the last 3 years.
I generally charge $10 per word when there is no intermediary involved, such as an agency, but if the job appeals to me I would be willing to work for less, particularly if the translation is related to literature or poetry. I have translated several books, one on the use of concrete in Mexico, another on the political history of Cuba, and one on the history of postcards around the world, among others. I work fast and efficiently, but am a perfectionist when it comes to my work. If in doubt about the meaning of a word or phrase, I like to have someone to contact and resolve my doubts, as there are often errors in the source texts that I am given to translate.
