Translation Experience:
-Over 25 years of translation experience, doing countless translations for individuals in various technical and commercial fields, from instruction manuals to specialized magazine articles, among others.
-18 years of part-time, in-house technical translations in Germany for the major German airline.
-Translation of aircraft and component maintenance manuals and airworthiness directives, maintenance practices, and documentation for aircraft and aircraft systems modification programs.
-Translation of technical training manuals and job cards for customer airlines.
-In 1999, translation of software user manuals in Mexico City for Microsoft.
-Since 1999, I work in Mexico City as a full time freelance technical translator, doing jobs for large corporations, as well as for translation agencies and individuals.
Education, Language and Job Experience:
-Raised fully bilingual and bicultural in Mexico City, having German parents.
-Attended the German School in Mexico, learning English as a third language, including intensive courses of American English.
-Attended La Grange Junior High School in Poughkeepsie, NY, for two years, gaining a native-like knowledge of American English.
-Studied mechanical engineering in Stuttgart, Germany, specializing in manufacturing processes.
-Worked four years for an American industrial sewing machine company in Stuttgart, Germany, as a production and assembly line engineer, at the same time translating their technical issues.
-Worked 23 years for the major German airline as a maintenance engineer, having to deal also with engineers from many foreign customer airlines and aircraft and components manufacturers, which involved a lot of travel and required the translation of countless documents.
-Wide experience in training maintenance engineers of customer airlines in Germany and abroad.
-Since 1999, I work as a full time freelance technical translator for large corporations, agencies and individuals.
-From 2001 until 2003, I also worked as a freelance sales rep in Mexico for a representation firm of German CNC machining centers, which required the translation of many technical documents.
-Altogether I lived almost 19 years in Germany, 18 years in Mexico, 6 years in the United States and 2 years in Indonesia, and I relocated to Mexico again in 1999.
