Bio
Background

I am a British English speaker with six years experience of living and working in Italy. I moved to The Netherlands at the end of 2007 but I continue to have daily contact with Italian as both languages are spoken at home. I have a linguistic background, having obtained a BA Degree in French and Italian from the University of Leeds and an MA Degree in Translation, with distinction, from the University of Salford. I am also a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (IOL) and an Associate of the Institute of Translating and Interpreting (ITI).

Specialization

I have specialized in Legal Translation by undertaking intensive private study in this field, particularly in Italian civil and criminal law, and translating numerous complex legal documents. In addition, I consult lawyers whenever I need confirmation of a translation or further explanation of a particular concept.

Business Practice

Fundamental aspects of my business practice include: being reliable, delivering work on time, never accepting volumes of work that will lead to a compromise in quality, and thoroughly researching each project in order to produce an accurate translation. To improve formatting and lexical consistency I employ CAT tools; I do not, however, apply lower rates for the use of such software. As a general rule, I do not accept PDF documents, faxes and scans, but exceptions may be made if the image quality is excellent.
