I have never been a talented dancer. Nor have I ever been a great singer that leaves the audience flabbergasted with her performance. I can’t play the guitar or draw masterpieces of art. But there is one thing I was made for, something I’m really good at: writing. That’s why I became a translator and journalist.
I have been working as a freelance journalist and translator for over 11 years now. My client list includes Associated Press Television News, Condé Nast, Yahoo!, Globalingua and ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG.
As my name implies, I am Croatian. I was born in Munich and raised bilingually. At primary school, I participated in a programme for children of Yugoslav families. Classes were held alternatively in German and Serbo-Croatian. Additionally, I had classes in Serbo-Croatian as first foreign language at grammar school. Thus I have excellent knowledge of both the Croatian and Serb language as well as the Cyrillic alphabet and style of writing.
In July 1998, I passed the state exam for bilingual correspondents at the Inlingua language school in Munich. To improve my language skills in English, Spanish and Italian I attended classes for advanced foreign language studies and translation at Fremdspracheninstitut München.
I had also been working as a freelance teacher in the English, Croatian and German department for more than three years. In 2009, I received a Diploma of Freelance Journalism at British College of Journalism.
Furthermore, I’m fluent in English and Spanish and have a good knowledge of the Italian language.
