FTSE and ISS decided to engage in a joint global corporate governance ratings and index project early in 2004 and announced their collaboration at the end of February 2004. The indices were launched in December 2004.
Corporate Governance Index (CGI) rating is a corporate governance rating system that evaluates the strengths, deficiencies and overall quality of a company’s corporate governance practices and board of directors.
While there are many different sets of governance standards, codes and laws, there has been a general trend towards global convergence.
