I am a professional freelance German and French into English
translator with six years' experience based in Berlin, Germany. I specialise in law (court
procedure documents, official documents, contracts), finance (reports, prospectuses, brochures) and marketing (copywriting,
transcreation, content marketing).
native English speaker, I spent almost four years studying and working
in France before moving to Berlin in 2014 where have been honing
my German language skills ever since and am currently taking a course in German to English translation at the Akademie für Fremdsprachen, Berlin (beginning January 2019).
I hold an MA in Translation (specialising in French and Spanish to English translation), a BA
in French from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and the University of Nice, France. In addition, I have passed two units of the British Chartered
Institute of Linguists' Diploma in Translation (French to English).
Before setting up
freelance in 2013, I worked as a staff translator in the UK (London) and France (Toulouse and Nice),
and a consecutive interpreter in my native Dublin for the Irish courts. I also have experience working as a legal administrator, affording me a knowledge of legal systems and court procedures.
I am a member of the Societe française des traducteurs (SFT) - France's largest professional body for translators and interpreters and regularly attend continuing professional development (CPD) events to keep my skills updated.
As a CAT tool, I use SDL Trados 2019 and have a knowledge of MemoQ and Wordfast. I am also proficient in several DTP, subtitling, and transcription programmes.
