English to French: Sample Translation Detailed field: Philosophy
Source text - English We are a nation that is driven by consumerism. Our credit cards never seem to have too high of a balance on them. We never seem to be satisfied with any amount of material possessions and we can never get fat enough. Our generation's illness is consumerism, plain and simple. We do not do drugs like in the 1960's and we are not nearly as racist as those who lived in the 20th century. We consume.
Translation - French Nous sommes une nation qui est poussée par la consommation ostentatoire. Les soldes de nos cartes de crédites ne seront jamais trop élevées. Nous ne sommes jamais satisfaits par tous les biens matériaux que nous possédons et nous ne serons jamais assez gros. La maladie de notre génération, c'est tout simplement, la consommation ostentatoire. Nous ne sommes pas des drogués des années soixante et nous ne sommes surement pas aussi racistes que ceux qui ont vécu au vingtième siècle. On consomme.

Years of translation experience: 18. Registered at ProZ.com: Dec 2006.
I am a 26 year old student at Louisiana State University. I lived in France for 2 years from 2000-2002. My studies of the french language during that time were very rigorous and I continue to read and study the language in my course work. My major is Computer Science with a minor in French. I successfully tested out of 14 credit hours of french and 8 credit hours of Spanish. I taught myself Spanish and French. I had a decided advantage in French, however, since I lived in the country.
I love to read and I love words. My goal is to know as much as possible about all of my interests. I also want to be as proficient in French as possible. I have 4 books on colloquial and slang french as well as hands-on experience trying to understand and use it while I was in france.
I am a web developer by trade, hence the specialty in computers, and I love all things electronic and technical. Despite my technical background, I love the arts and literature. I have read dozens of books in french and spanish, and thousands in english.
I am very dedicated to providing the highest quality translations. I will never produce any broken english or french.
