Founded in 1979, Logos Group has grown into a multi-language vendor with an annual turnover rivalling that of any major player in the industry, creating one of the largest privately-owned language services companies operating worldwide.

The past 25 years has seen an evolution from Logos as multilingual translation provider to single-source language solutions company - embracing wider business activities and processes to add value to the partnership we forge with our clients on an individual basis.

A corporate structure based on continuous technological innovation
Logos Group always recognized the indispensable value of our translators and their collective expertise. We quickly developed and deployed tools that assisted our language teams - clearly our most valuable asset.

Long before "portals" became fashionable, Logos was managing projects exclusively on the Web with its proprietary system, Logosys. Logos was the first company to recognize the most efficient way to manage the widely distributed processes demanded by our industry was to develop a fully centralized management system, integrating Business-, Production-, Resource-, and Linguistic Content Management functions. Logosys enables us to manage all activities centrally. Within Logosys, we also stored centrally client terminology and translation memory data using powerful Oracle-driven technology so avoiding - early on in our history - fragmentation of your intellectual property across our global operations.

This was the genesis for the development of customized solutions providing clients with their very own web-based language community. An integrated infrastructure is designed to invite all those involved in the business of communication (authors, translators, linguistic supervisors, engineers, website specialists to company reviewers, etc.) - to share, augment and comment on their unique language continuously - including glossaries, corporate documentation and translation memory - on-line and in real-time within an environment we call Global-ref. Our infrastructure now provides tried and tested technology that transforms language into a key market advantage company-wide.

This also makes it much easier for us to continually develop solutions, such as E-Term and Global-Ref, that are revolutionizing the way corporations are managing their internal content management.

Our ability to build a corporate structure based on continuous technological innovation without undermining its original organisational model; harnessing the most advanced communications systems to serve the traditional craft of the translator; that defines our true competitive advantage.

Creation of the Logos Web portal community
As Logos grows, it became increasingly imperative to create a 'collective memory' that capitalises on the expertise and knowledge acquired by the company's translators and collaborators.

Initially developed to facilitate the company's daily activities, this collective memory quickly becomes a major Group asset.

In 1995, Logos makes a proprietary multilingual dictionary, then containing 31 different languages, available to the entire Internet community free of charge. The number of users connected to the site grows exponentially, each navigator contributing to the further enrichment of the 'living' dictionary with his/her own input.

When the dictionary became freely available on-line, it represented not only a compelling service for the Internet community, but also quickly revealed its worth as a major commercial initiative, due to its enormous profile-raising value. Indeed, the number of visits to the Logos website has exploded, thereby raising the company's profile with prospective clients, whilst, at the same time offering the perfect channel to contact, and recruit the most highly qualified translators worldwide.

Growth through the Internet & creation of a virtual global workforce
The growth of the Internet marks the turning point in the company's evolution. Logos is able to make the transition to a virtual, global company, capable of consolidating its international presence.

The Italian headquarters begins to complement its professional translation resources with graphic specialists and software engineers.

Over time, the international status of the Group is consolidated through the acquisition of companies both in Italy and abroad, which are allocated the role of managing the mainterritorial customer bases.

Other innovative services for the Logos Web portal community
The cultural driving force that has always underpinned the company's activities, next finds expression in the creation of a 'universal library', which, like the dictionary, first starts life as an internal tool and is subsequently made available to the public on-line. This library quickly grows, enriched by thousands of literary classics, novels, monographs and technical-scientific- based texts in a variety of languages.

1997 sees the launch of another free service to complement the dictionary and library: this time, the 'Verba', a universal verb conjugator - yet another pioneering initiative.
