I am presently working as a University Research Associate of the Information, Publication and Public Affairs Office of the University of the Philippines. I started my career in translation in 2003 where i was employed as the assistant to the project manager of the Chavacano Language Corpus Project (CLCP) that the Language Projects Office of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (where I also earned my degree in Bachelors of Science in Mass Communication). I was involved in data gathering, transcribing, encoding and proof reading. My good performance led me to a separate project. McNeil Technologies Inc., also the CLCP outsourcer, contracted me as a Test Development Consultant for the Chavacano Language. The work involved researching authentic written and spoken
Chavacano Language materials, identifying passages at level two and three on the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) scale, translating the selected passages into English and glossing each Chavacano word with a concise English definition.
Aside from Chavacano, I am also a native speaker of Tagalog and Cebuano (Bisayan). I am proficient with these languages both written and spoken. I also know limited Tausug (another dialect that my father and brother is profiecient with), which I am presently learning.
Aside from translating, I also lay-out publications such as books, flyers, posters, banners, etc. I have also worked as a Regional Coordinator for the Early Childhood Care and Development for the Department of Social Welfare and Development for 2 years.
