CV SPIRAL CAT TRANSLATIONS
Barbara Stanzl and Brett Fitzpatrick
My partner and I are a unique translation team. He is a native English speaker with a degree in graphic design and Illustration and I am a native German speaker who has always been interested in different languages: English, Italian and Spanish and their usage. We have been working together for quite a while and recently started our website for translation and tuition. ( www.spiralcat.co.uk)
We have translated a variety of texts from an Art catalogue for an Austrian Artist to very difficult technical texts, economics texts and new companies websites or press texts, mostly for advertising.
We are currently based in Vienna, Austria and I have been an in-house translator in the UK and Austria for many years. In the UK I have worked for Art-Sales Index, the Go Barging Company and at the Tate Gallery in London for two years. In Austria I have recently worked for Com_unit and Lowe GGK in Vienna, where the main correspondence language was English and where I took care of 16 different Eastern European countries.
Brett is currently teaching English to people with German as a first language and as part of Spiralcat translations is helping with the phrasing and proofreading of the German to English translations and helping with the English to German translations.
We enjoy our work very much and are always interested in new challenges and possibilities.
