I have always loved languages, so I decided to major in Communications for my undergraduate degree, which I earned from the University of California, San Diego in 1998. Soon afterwards I decided to focus on teaching with an emphasis on language acquisition. I have been working as a teacher since 2002, which in cluded English as a Second Language, Spanish as a Second Language as well as Language Arts to native speakers of both languages.
While I find working as a teaching is rewarding I cannot escape my passion for languages. It is for this reason that I returned to school in order to pursue two additional Bachelors' degrees in Translation & Interpretation under the tutelage of Dr. Alexander Rainof, one of the foremost interpreters in the United States, and Spanish Literature.
Throughout this program, which used English and Spanish (in both directions) as the working languages, terminology and documents relating to finance & economics, penal & civil law, the medical profession, administration, politics, automotive, firearms & weapons, clothing & accessories, and agriculture, amongst others prepared me to work not only as a translator, but as a consecutive and simultaneous interpreter as well. Unfortunately, the program did not focus on the French language, but I minored in French because I believe that it is important to be multilingual in today's world. Additionally, I took a class in French translation and one of my freelance jobs was to assist the professor publish a magazine featuring translations between English and French. In short, I learned and practiced the technique of effective and ethical translation and interpretation. In all of my translation courses, whether in Spanish or French, I translated and interpreted in both directions.
After finishing the academic program in California, I decided to move to France in September 2006 in order to increase my fluency in French. Currently, I work as an English teacher in an elementary school in Grasse.
I have exacting standards and my work history attests to my professionalism and
attention to detail.
