I am Irish, and started out as a solicitor in a firm near London, representing individuals and companies in contentious and non-contentious matters. After taking time off to have children, during which period I was a member of a parole committee, I became Crown Prosecutor.
I have been in France since 1991, teaching in industry and schools, and have been a full-time translator since 2002. I work with my husband (barrister).
We do all types of legal, financial and corporate translations. We are both official translators (assermenté). My husband is the English law consultant for Harrap's Dalloz bilingual law dictionary.
We work for 15-20 agencies, plus avocats and notaires. Missions are varied, from contracts (mostly for CAC 40 companies) to judgments and pleadings. We translate anything from a short letter to a 100,000 word document. Checking/proofreading is not for us (too busy) except for favourite clients (you too can become one of those..........).
