I've been working in the translation industry since 2000 in various roles including translation, QA and project management, and became a freelancer in 2006.
I was awarded the Institute of Linguists Diploma in Translation in 2005 with a Distinction in Paper 1 (General) and Passes in Papers 2 (Technology) and 3 (Science).
I am a fully trained and experienced translation checker and proofreader, with substantial experience of patents (mostly in the fields of mechanical, automotive, electronic and electrical engineering, chemistry and pharmaceuticals).
I pride myself on being able to convey technical concepts in a lucid, flowing style, whether I'm translating a press release or an operating manual. Having been an outsourcer myself, I have a good understanding of what is required from a supplier: I'm reliable, punctual and thorough, and I will not take on any piece of work without first checking that it is within my capabilities.
In 2019 I attended the inaugural Warwick Translates summer school in literary translation, and in 2020 I was shortlisted for the Peirene-Stevns Translation Prize, for a translation from Swedish.
