Bio
I am currently an accredited translator by NAATI- and a Sworn Public Translator Ad hoc for the Commercial Bureaux of Santa Catarina state in Brazil. I teach English, Foundations of Translation Theory and Academic Writing at a College. I have lived in the United States for several years where I attended the extended University course majoring International Business at San Francisco State University. Back to Brazil I worked in Trading Companies, but my real passion was working as a simultaneous interpreter. So, I did for several years. Later, I have moved to Australia with my husband and three kids, where I have specialized in Medical Terminology at WEA and Legal Administration at the Advanced Careers College. In 2000, when we returned to Brazil, I decided to go back to the University and attend Letters Course and Literature at UFSC. I managed to graduate in less than two years and be awarded with honors to be accepted as a post-graduation student at the the Translation Studies Master Program. Fortunatelly, I was awarded with a scholarship from CAPES that allowed me to carry out my research about the Retextualization of biomedical abstracts using Systemic Functional Linguistics as a theoretical background. It was a great experience. I hope to be able to make further research on the subject on a Doctoral Program as soon as possible. Meanwhile, I enjoy working as a translator, it is an everyday research job, there is always some new terms and subjects to learn.
